Where to listen to live music?

It's Friday and I bet many of you already have some plans for the weekend but in case you don't, I have a few suggestions for you. If you are into live music - was it jam sessions, live jazz, different international artists or anything else - in a smoky and intimate bar rather than in a big concert hall, you should try some of the following places. Listening to some good music doesn't have to be limited to your weekend either as these bars have great things going on during the week as well! Enjoy!
Big Bang Bar
This classic bar in Raval is a cozy place with always some good music going on. Every Wednesday they have a different artist playing something from rock to blues or from funk to Celtic music. On Thursdays and Sundays there is an open mic session, on Fridays a Jazz jam session and on Saturdays Nits Raveleres de Jazz concert & jam event! All the session start from 21h and the entrance is always free. If you are hanging out around Raval and want to experience a true spirit of the barrio, don't miss this one out!

Sala Fizz
Dim candle lights, well elaborated cocktails, a romantic and intimate feeling and the smooth sound of Bossa nova... that's how I would describe Sala Fizz for a friend. The place is located in the heart of Eixample and it has an extensive program of acoustic concerts of talented artists with different music genres. It's open from Thursdays till Saturdays between 22:30-03:00. Check their Facebook and instagram pages where they publish information about all the upcoming events and shows.

GUZZO
This is a place where gastronomy, art and music meet creating a top experience for any culture enthusiast! Their concerts offer a great variety of international musicians and projects; here you can listen to Italian swing, Afro-Brazilian jazz or the traditional rhythms of the African Nuba tribe. The best thing is that there is always something different and interesting going on! On Saturdays between 13-18:00 you can assist Vermut Musical, a vinyl flea market with live music and of course, vermut! Now you might be thinking that okay, I love live music but I would like to dance as well. Any options for that? No worries! In that case, head to Marula Café in Gothic Quarter! This is a charming live music bar and club with a dance floor and an energetic vibe that will make you dance all night with some great acoustic rhythms. There is a jam session every Wednesday with special guests and local DJ's responsible to keep the groove up and on Sundays there is a Funk jam session till 5AM! The entrance for both events is 6e till 1:30, including a beer, and after that 10e including a drink. If you love rock music don't miss the A Wamba Buluba Rock'n Roll shows on Thursdays. Soda Acústic
If you are looking for live music in the Gràcia neighborhood you should definitely check out this one. Soda Acústic is a small low-lit music bar offering jam sessions with a visiting artist on Thursdays (entrance 3e), Brazilian jam sessions on Sundays (entrance 2e) and varying shows of different artist playing jazz, Balkan swing, latin rhythms and experimental music the rest of the week. La Bàscula Espai Musical
La Bàscula is a musical and youth space in Montjuic aiming to train, create and exhibit live music. They organize music courses and workshops as well. Most of the live music shows take place in the Bar La Bàscula, except the Friday concert that is organized in a bigger hall in the same building. Anyways, this off the beaten path place offers some interesting live music sessions that you can check on their Facebook page here or on their website here.
