In search of good ethnic vegetarian dishes Vol. 2
Bon dia!
Barcelona is very multicultural and one of the best things about it is that you have a chance to taste yummy food from all around the world in its vast variety of eateries. We got some very nice feedback about our earlier post called In search of good ethnic vegetarian dishes and as ethnic and vegetarian restaurants are without a doubt our favourite ones to discover, we decided to write a second part!
Hope you enjoy it and if you have any new suggestions of exotic and delicious food corners, let us know! :)
Ouzoud cous cous (Moroccan)
This family own Moroccan restaurant is an authentic delight! The dim lights, the oriental decorations and the smell of the hookah makes you feel like being teleported straight into the true essence of Morocco. They have a lot of vegetarian options like the classic Arabic favorites like hummus and falafel but if you want something else don't hesitate to ask the staff for recommendations, they are more than happy to help! I was there for an unplanned family dinner - we just passed by the place, looked in, thought it was beautiful and decided to stay - and in the end the place was so cozy that we ordered another bottle of wine and stayed till it closed. Waiting to get back!
Address: Carrer de Salvà, 5
Metro: Paral-lel

Heladería Mexicana (Mexican)
I have just recently found this little Mexican corner and I must say it's now one of my favourite spots in the whole city! Even though the place is tiny and not the best option for big groups, it's full of authenticity, colors and positive vibes. They serve delicious vegan burritos, nachos, tacos, quesadillas and and a jaw-dropping variety of home-made vegan ice creams! And let's not forget the vegan cakes! It's not an all-vegan place though and meat eaters have options too. After eating yourself full of these amazing treats, don't forget to stay for a while and relax with a glass of margarita :)
Address: Carrer de la Mestrança, 49
Metro: Barceloneta

Bun Bo Vietnam (Vietnamese)
If you are looking for delicious Vietnamese food and affordable prices - this is your place. Bun Bo Vietnam's menu on workdays from 12 till 17 is only 10e (11e in the terrace) and includes a drink (wine, draft beer, soft drinks or water), first plate, second plate and a dessert. The vegetarian and vegan option for the main dish is Mi Xào Rau: wok fried rice noodles with fresh vegetables in a sesame sauce and for starters you can choose vegetable and tofu spring rolls or a green salad. This is only the menu of the day though and they have a lot of other vegetarian options too like wontons, coconut soup, Vietnamese tofu curry etc, etc! Last but not least: their cocktails cost only 3,5e!
Address: They have two restaurants, one in Calle Sagristans, 3 in el Gòtic and another one in Carrer dels Àngels 6 in Raval.
Metro: Jaume I, Liceu
Ugarit (Syrian)
The Ugarit group is the leader of Syrian cuisine in Barcelona and they definitely do deserve that title. The atmosphere is ideal, the staff is extremely friendly and the food is just amazing! They have already seven restaurants in town: in Gracia, Sants and in Villa Olímpica. They have a looot of different options for vegetarians so I don't even know where to start! If you are a first timer, I would recommend ordering one of the combination vegetable dishes that are huge and have different Syrian specialities in them for you to taste.
Check the location of their restaurants and more info here.

La Carioca (Brazilian)
I have actually written about this cute and little Brazilian corner before in our post about the Brunch picks of the month. Here you can try a vegan version of the Brazilian tapioca, a type of crepe made of cassava root and filled with different ingredients, sweet or salty. So if you are into Brazilian cuisine or curious to taste it, this is your place and don't forget to ask for an açaí smoothie to accompany your delicious tapioca ;)
Address: Carrer de Ginebra, 20
Cuba de Janeiro (Brazilian, Cuban)
I have heard that this is the new hot spot of Barcelona so of course I had to go and test it myself and I wasn't disappointed! Cuba de Janeiro is a Brazilian-Cuban eco-friendly restaurant/café that serves handmade pastries, bagels, fresh fruit juices and smoothies, açaí and yogurt bowls and many more healthy and organic options. Vegan ice cream can be found as well! It's decorated with Cuban colonial furniture and the Brazilian Bossa Nova on the background just makes the atmosphere perfect for a relaxing moment of brunch, lunch or for after work cocktails.
Address: Av. de Mistral, 33
Metro: Rocafort, Poble Sec
Yep, the toilet is beautiful too!
Betawi (Indonesian)
How about a taste of Indonesia? No problem, Barcelona has it! Betawi Restaurant serves authentic Indonesian cuisine in a beautifully simple and intimate atmosphere. Try the noodles with wok sautéed vegetables and peanut sauce, amazing! Apologies for not having a better picture of the place but I hope that makes you even more curious to go and try it yourself! :P
Address: Carrer de Montsió, 6
Metro: Catalunya

I wish you all a great weekend full of delicious food! :)
