A day at the Malamar Wakepark and Restaurant in Montgat

Sometimes it’s good to try something you haven’t tried before – and this time it was going to Malamar Wakepark in Montgat to celebrate friend’s birthday. It was perfect day for that as the weather was really sunny but the place did not seem too crowded even though the wakeboarding was fully booked for the day.

Wakeboarding is a nice activity for a child as well for an adult! It is a surface water sport that was developed from a combination of water skiing, snowboarding, and surfing techniques. You need lots of balance and strong core for successful wakeboarding and it can be quite challenging at times but it’s worth of trying and lots of fun!

There are many different packages you can purchase, but for example 15 minutes wakeboarding with equipment and instructor is 17€ per person.  The park has a "ski cable" that goes around the pool with two cable lines - 200m long and 40m wide. For serious pro wakeboarders there are also Ollie box, Skate box, Quarter, 2 Kickers and Pipe system. As you can see from the picture, we were not one of them… ;)

The restaurant offers Mediterranean food and drinks (Patatas bravas are always a safe option) so that you can have a bite after wakeboarding or chill out while waiting for your friends if you are too scared to go and have a try yourself. The restaurant also organizes some special events from time to time, and it is possible to book some space from there for a private event as well.

The location of Malamar Wakepark is perfect – it is just next to Montgat train station. It is impossible to get lost (says someone who always gets lost everywhere, so this is a true info). There are trains from Barcelona to Montgat very often and the park is also easily accessible by foot, bike and car.

You can also combine beach hangs with your visit to Malamar Wakepark.. ;)
