your favorites?
Brunch -In The Park & -In the City
If you want to get wild instead of just having a
chilled Sunday, try out this event! It is an electronic open-air music event
with popular DJ’s from all around the world that takes place on summer Sundays
in Plaza Mayor del Poble Espanyol. The idea of the event is to get people to
enjoy great parties under the sunshine, without having to spend the whole night
out. If you wish to take a break of
dancing, you will find spots to sit down and crab something to eat and drink.
This event is super popular and it’s usually sold-out so it is important to buy
the tickets in advance to secure your spot! Find more info here http://barcelona.brunch-in.com/en/.
Eat Street
Eat Street is a street food event that is organized
regularly on summer Saturdays in changing locations around Barcelona. It is not
just about tasting different kinds of amazing street food from around the world,
but also enjoying sun and the positive vibes, meeting new people and listening
to live DJ’s. There is no entrance fee and the food costs approximately 5 euros
per portion. Check out information about the next event here http://eatstreet.barcelona/ and go and join the food fiesta!
Laid back picnic in the open air cinemas
One of the favourite activities of the people in Barcelona during summer time is definitely
the open air cinemas that start their screenings every year in the mid/end of June until the
beginning of August. If you feel like watching a movie straight on the beach head to
Cinema Lliure a la Platja that screens independent and international films every Thursday
and some Sundays on the beach of San Sebastián (Barceloneta), on Fridays in Badalona
and Prat de Llobregat and on Saturdays in Mataró, from 9:00 p.m. It’s a totally free event
but note that it gets easily crowded so be there early to secure your spot!
Another option is Cinema a la Fresca that takes place up the Montjuic hill. With the 6e
entrance you get to enjoy a pre-movie live music concert, a short film, and then the movie
itself. The film variety is great, from old classics to the latest Oscar winners. There is also a
bar to buy some snacks and drinks but you are allowed bring your own picnic equipment
as well. Both of these outside cinemas are great meeting places with friends in summery
Barcelona! Don’t hesitate to check their agenda and book your spot!
Fiestas mayores de los barrios
Fiestas
mayores de los barrios (Festes majors) are the most important annual
celebrations in the city. The fiestas have long religious history but these
days it is mostly about getting together and enjoying arts, culture and
gastronomy. Fiesta de Gràcia is taking place on the third week of August, and
during the last week in August, the streets of the Sants neighbourhood start
filling up with festival crowd. There are so many things to explore in the
fiestas, such as Correfocs for children (fireworks lit on the street),
Castellers (human towers), Sardana dance and of course different kinds of
concerts, cinema and food tastings. Find more information about Fiesta de Sants
here https://www.festamajordesants.net/.
