Barcelona with kids
Are you coming to Barcelona with children and don’t know
what to do? Or are you living here and getting little visitors who you would
like to entertain? My friend from Finland was visiting me with her six years old son and it
made want to discover Barcelona for kids
and see the city from a completely new perspective. Below you can find some of
my suggestions, hope you will find it useful!
Explore Museu de la Xocolata
Who wouldn’t love to spend some time surrounded by chocolate
themed things? Museu de la Xocolata is a private museum and was opened in 2000
to El Born district. It has for example chocolate sculptures (including
well-known Barcelona buildings and cartoon figures), audiovisuals and
machinery, and you can learn the process of making chocolate from the cocoa
tree seed to the point where cocoa becomes chocolate. The musem also organizes
activities such as workshops and has a shop-café for chocolate tasting. It is
relatively small museum but a worth a visit if you love chocolate!
Have a good time at Barcelona Bosc
Urbà
Have an adventure at Barcelona Urban
Jungle! It is a place to laugh and have a good time. It is covered, urban
adventure park with zip lines, bungee jumps, log platforms and rope-climbing
circuits. It is a former industrial building that is close to the beaches in Parc del Forum. Pay attention to your clothing and take comfortable,
stretchy clothes with you. Try to combine your visit with a
chilled beach hang out after wasting your energy in the park! Find more info about the opening hours and prices here https://www.barcelonaboscurba.com/en/.
Ice cream at
Eyescream and friends
Why wouldn’t you reward
the kids with something sweet after a long day sightseeing or an active day at
the beach? Eyescream and friends offers
innovative shaved ice cream portions in Barceloneta neighbourhood that are
popular especially among children (and childlike adults, like myself) – the
photo below might tell you why ;) Eyscream and friends started its business in
2012 in Barcelona but since then they have also expanded their business in
other parts of the world including Singapore, Malaysia, Dubai and Kuwait. It is easy: first you pick your tray, choose your favorite flavor, add toppings and enjoy :)
Chill out at Parc de l’Estacio del Nord
As I figured out during my friends’ visit, no matter where in the world you are, parks and playgrounds are always in for kids! There are many nice
parks in Barcelona where locals often gather together to spend some quality
time with family and friends. There is always space for kids to play and adults
will get some fresh air too. One of the nice parks is Parc de l’Estacio del
Nord that is easily accessible for kids and has a nice location close to Arc de
Triomf and Sagrada Família. There's
an enclosed children’s area that's perfect for swinging and climbing.
Take a break of shopping at Bubbleparc
Bubbleparc is a
small outdoor amusement area for kids (and why not for adults, too) that has a
perfect location just next to Maremagnum shopping centre and Aquarium which
makes it easy to combine some shopping and play! Bubbleparc has series of
innovative physical activities for example water cars, bubble race, trampoline
rope jumper and tricycle race. Each game takes approximately 5-10 minutes but
it is possible to play more than one round (one round is 6 euros, three rounds
is 15 euros). They also organize children’s birthday parties (reservation
required). Bubbleparc might not be the best option for super hot and sunny day
so that children do not get too much direct sunlight but it is definitely a
nice pit stop while exploring Barcelona sights.
Pintxos at Carrer
de Blai
Carrer de Blai,
“the tapas street of Barcelona” is a nice place to go and have a bite with
kids. It has many small restaurants where you can easily satisfy your
tapas/pintxo desires! It is an easy place to dine with the kids as the pintxos are
set up at the counter where you can let the kids choose the ones they want and
pay when you leave according to what you have eaten. The pintxos cost normally
from 1 euro to 2 euros, and you can easily just hop from one place to another
to try the tapas/pintxos of different restaurants. The restaurants are normally
quite full so it may be a good idea to go rather early to secure your spot!
What are your suggestions for things to do with children in Barcelona?
Love,
Kristiina in Barcelona
