Brunch picks of the month
Have you ever woken up at noon, feeling hungry but you know you missed the breakfast time of your favourite café? Or it’s Sunday, the supermarkets are closed, and you realized you really have nothing tasty at home to satisfy your ever growing hunger? I have, dozens of times! And that’s why BRUNCH is many times my favourite word of the weekend! To enjoy a delicious brunch, though, you have to know where to go and sometimes you need to make a reservation in advance. Here is a list of our favourite brunch places of the month, perfect for a good and energizing start of the day!
Brunch & Cake
Well, this one is a must! The plates are huge and they are so pretty you almost feel sorry for eating them. Their motto is “in grandmothers we trust” (isn't that sweet?) and they make all their dishes by hand and with great care. At the moment they have three different brunch places in town: Brunch & Cake, Travel & Cake and Brunch by the Sea. They are all open from Monday to Sunday from 9 till 22 so you can even enjoy pancakes for dinner if you feel like!
Note: they don’t make reservations and during the weekend you might have to wait to get a table, specially if you go with a group.

Trópico
As you might have noticed, we really enjoy trying dishes from all over the world! And in this beautiful restaurant you can have a brunch with flavours from various territories like Caribbean arepas, Brazilian açaí and typical crepes from Magreb. So no need to say that this place is like our brunch dream come true! They have a great variety of smoothies with all the rainbow colors as well, my favourite is definitely “the Dragon tail”.

Hotel Barceló Raval
If you prefer an all-you-can-eat brunch then try this one. You can find these type of brunches in Barcelona usually in hotels and they tend to be kind of expensive but in Barceló Raval the price, which is 25e, is still accessible compared to what you get: a coffee or tea served to the table, florentín or benedict eggs and a free buffet with a bakery corner, veggie corner and a fruit corner. In the end you can enjoy a cocktail in their fantastic 360 rooftop terrace in the 11th floor, included in the price!
This brunch is served only on Sundays, from 12 till 16. It’s in the B-Lounge restaurant, on the ground floor of the hotel. And did I mention that the brunch is also accompanied by a live DJ? Well, it is!
Location: Rambla del Raval, 17-21
Closesti metro: L3 Liceu
La Carioca
This little and cozy Brazilian corner is at the moment one of my favourite places for brunch! It’s located in the busy Barceloneta, but it has still not been invaded by the crowds. La Carioca means anything related to Rio de Janeiro, was it a person, music or food and the speciality of this tiny restaurant are the tapiocas. Tapioca is a type of crepe made of cassava root and filled with different ingredients, sweet or salty. In La Carioca you have lots of healthy options and they serve vegan tapiocas as well! If you want something more traditional, don't worry, they also serve homemade pancakes, avocado toasts and fried eggs in different forms.

Surya Muntaner
What about an Indian brunch? Why not! This beautifully decorated Indian restaurant serves brunch on Sundays, from 13 till 16. With only 12,5e you get the following: a hot drink (coffee, chai or tea), a cold drink (mango lassi, orange juice, wine, cava, beer or soda), a hot meal to choose from different options and a dessert which is usually halwa, naan with nutella or the cake of the day. The place is pleasantly calm and you can enjoy your brunch inside or in the terrace! They do recommend to make a reservation in advance, which you can make on their website, but the last time we were there it wasn't full at all, so I wouldn't say that it's an absolute necessity.
