In search of good ethnic vegetarian dishes

Have you sometimes struggled with finding vegetarian options from restaurant menus? Even though vegetarianism is getting more popular all the time, it is still sometimes hard to find good alternatives to replace meat dishes when you wish to go out for meal. Below you will find six of our current favorite ethnic restaurants that we think you should try out too!

Bangkok Café (Thai)

Bangkok Cafe is very small, authentic, family-runned thai restaurant located between Sants and Les Corts. The food is delicious, the menu is vegetarian-friendly (props for super tasty tofu dishes) and the service is good. There are not much seats in the restaurant so reservation is highly recommended to secure your spot.

Rincón Persa (Persian)

Rincón Persa has a nice, relaxed and authentic atmosphere, and every Friday and Saturday you can also enjoy a belly dancing show while having a dinner. The restaurant is like a heaven for vegetarians – the menu includes for example vegetarian stew, hummus, salads and tasty desserts. And the dishes are huge! The restaurant is located in Sant Antoni within really good connections from everywhere in Barcelona.

Addis Abeba (Ethiopian)

Addis Ababa is one of our favourite restaurants in Barcelona! It is located near Sants Estació and it has really nice atmosphere, Ethiopian music and super good service. The restaurant is colourful and decorated in an Ethiopian style. The best vegetarian option on the menu is vegetarian injera, that is spongy sourdough flatbread which is used as a “spoon” for lentils, beans, and vegetable sauces piled on top.

Tip: If you can’t get a table from Addis Ababa or you are hanging out in Gràcia and graving for injera, try out Abyssinia that is another Ethiopian restaurant located on Carrer del Torrent de les Flor in Gràcia.

Hummus Barcelona (Middle-Eastern)

If you love hummus, I promise you will love this place! It is located in the midst of the Eixample and it is ideal for lunch, dinner or a quick snack. There are multiple different kinds of hummus, creative salads, and pita on the menu. The menu is entirely vegetarian. The restaurant also has a small terrace on the street to enjoy sunny days and very friendly staff.

Tatami Room (Japanese)

Situated within short distance of Paral.lel metro, Tatami Room offers wide variety of veggie options on their Japanese menu. Their menu consists of a selection of sushi rolls, ramens, seaweed salads and tempuras. The restaurant also organizes “Meat Free Mondays” occasionally when you can find only meat-free options on the menu: ramens, selection of starters and desserts. Worth of trying!

El Rabipelao (Venezuelan)

El Rabipelao is known for its amazing Venezuelan arepas and tropical cocktails. They have relatively short menu but they have couple of really good vegetarian options on their menu and lively and cosy South American atmosphere. It is perfect place for casual dinner with friends or pre-drinks before clubbing. El Rabipelao has two restaurants in Barcelona, one in Gràcia and one in Gótico.
